Do you have artist block when you are drawing? Do you have a deadline coming up, and your ideas are not coming out like they should for the project? Trust me; I know that feeling. When I am about to draw, my hand is just about the move to create something, but then... NOTHING! My brain is blank, and I don't know what to do. Sometimes, I sit there and try to think of something, but it doesn't work. Other times I think, "Ah, I'll just come back later, and maybe I will have something to draw," but I am still drawing a blank when I come back.
One of the best ways to get something on paper is to.... (drum roll, please)... DRAW YOURSELF!!! I know what you are thinking: "That is so simple and boring," and your right, you probably want to draw something that is far more creative and interesting, but that is the problem, you are trying to imagine something and put it on paper, but having something right in front of you is far easier and can help start-up the ideas in your head. When drawing yourself, you can experiment and play around with the drawing because you have a reference right in front of you. You can look in the mirror and practice your proportions or draw from memory and compare.

This is a drawing I made recently to use for my icon for my website, and it helped me experiment with a different style than what I usually do. I also used a brush that I barely use for most of the drawing, So use this tip to get yourself out of your artist block, and maybe you will find a new method that you have never tried before.
